Where are you on the emotional guidance scale?
You’ve probably heard people talk about vibrations before—good ones high ones, low ones, and everything in between. But did you know our emotions are tied to our vibrations? We’ve all had moments of joy and excitement just as we have all experienced doubt and fear. Knowing what vibration you are radiating and realizing you have the power to change that vibration is a great tool to have in your toolbelt.
I’ve been a fan of the inspirational speaker Abraham-Hicks for many years, and I enjoyed learning about the Emotional Guidance Scale (EGS) through her. It’s a wonderful tool to help lift ourselves out of low vibrations and low emotions to higher vibrations and higher emotions.
So what exactly is the Emotional Guidance Scale?
The EGS is a list of commonly felt emotions, ranging from joy, passion, love, and empowerment (all high vibrations) to fear, despair, grief, and powerlessness (all low vibrations).
When you want to feel better, you can identify where you are on the emotional scale and proactively reach for better feeling thoughts that will in turn lead to better feeling emotions. Once you feel stable in a new emotion, you have moved up the scale. Then you continue the practice of reaching for a better feeling thought and you’ll continue moving up the scale to a higher vibration and emotion.

When we live in joy and love we are in a high vibration. In that vibration, it’s easier to attract what we want. Our energy attracts its likeness. When we’re low on the emotional scale, we’re emitting negative energy, which attracts people, situations, and experiences that match that vibration. As we lift ourselves out of a low vibration and move up the scale, our point of attraction shifts. When we lean toward joy in any situation, we literally change the vibrational frequency of what’s happening around us.
Here’s how to move up the emotional scale. The next time you notice yourself at the bottom of the scale, gently practice reaching for higher vibration thoughts and emotions. Some ideas to help you:
- Write down things you’re grateful for
- Meditate
- Be of service to someone else
- Do something you enjoy
One of the fastest ways to raise your vibration is to do something that makes you feel good. I volunteer for a wonderful organization, and it makes me feel so good when I’m helping others. Within minutes, you’ll be in a higher vibration place because you’ll no longer be focusing on the things that you think you need. Instead, you’ll redirect your focus and change your vibration. Know that you can move up the scale bit by bit, step by step. And be loving and patient with yourself in the process.
Even the slightest shift in your energy is enough to redirect your energetic flow toward joy. When you feel that shift, enjoy it, luxuriate in it. Take the time to feel it and realize you created that shift and change. Remember— the best way to raise your vibration is to do something that makes you feel good. So, have fun and bring on those good vibrations.
